The Calm Before the Storm

It has been awhile since my last post.  There has not been much to talk about lately that has not already been said.  The news out of Indy has been sparse with even the last two weekly updates from Mr. Bedford being mundane at best.  What RAH has shown us is that we can expect periods of "inactivity" followed by an "onslaught" of news.  I fear we are in that lull now and come March 1, we will see a lot of announcements.

Most of the RAH leadership was in Denver over the past couple of weeks (touring the wreckage) and the most notable of those visits was the Station Manager meeting with Wayne Heller.  From what I understand, not much in the way of breaking news was announced, but one tidbit regarding LiveTV was discussed at length.  RAH will not be putting the LiveTV product in the Embraer aircraft due to the increased weight on the already notorious weight restricted aircraft.  It was also noted that the company cannot continue to sell the public false goods by allowing customers to pre-purchase LiveTV in a Classic or Classic-Plus package and not deliver on the E-190 flights.  I think this spells doom for the LiveTV product on all Frontier flights.  It is my belief that this will be amongst the announcements regarding the future of the brand.  He also addressed the possibility of introducing WiFi as new Inflight Entertainment.

Still no word on the payscales for the Customer Service division and knowing RAH, no word will come anytime soon.  I think they will keep dragging this out as long as they can until they can no longer hold off the angry masses at DIA.

I hope to have a lot more to talk about in the upcoming days and weeks, please stay tuned!

  1. BB said that the $3 surcharge on air ticket hurt the bookings but let me tell you the airplans are empty with angry FF members saying no more to Frontier and yes to Southwest and United.

  2. I have no idea what this blog is trying to achieve.

  3. If he get's rid of the live TV that will upset a lot of loyal F9 passengers, all he has to do is add free live TV to all classic and classic plus tickets and say TV may be substituted with a snack item or wi-fi depending on A/C type. Add Wifi e-190's and 170's first and airbus later.
Not everyone wants to send emial on the plane- think about people with kids, all they want is cartoons. He says Denver is not as well as MKE. That is a first, we all know the flights have never been this emptry in years. This is the BB effect not the Southwest effect, he is taking a profitable airline and messing it up.

  4. LiveTV made JetBlue money but it never made a dime for Frontier and on shorter flights, under two hours when very few watched it, it may have been a weight/fuel cost liability.

I don't notice Airtran or Southwest suffering because they don't have LiveTV.

  5. JetBlue offers LiveTV free. People will make far more use of and enjoy much more something that is free than something they have to pay for. It doesn't have to "make money" directly if it "makes money" indirectly by increasing the number of customers and customer satisfaction.

I agree completely with the second comment above. This blog has mostly just been inciteful to date and seems to be nothing more than a vehicle for trolling.

  6. In which case, the decision to charge, made by Jeff Potter, was wrong from the outset. Sam Addoms always believed the tv should have been free.

Otherwise we are agreed. I have no idea of the purpose of this blog, any of it, and it seems to be only destructive. Part of the problem, not any kind of a solution.

    Why fight the future?

  8. Anonymous: "JetBlue offers LiveTV free."

JetBlue owns LiveTV. They didn't give it to Frontier for free.

So I'll say again - (Frontier's) Live TV made money for JetBlue.

  9. A blog is a way to share thoughts nothing more. We all hope this new airline makes it but man it is rough out there at list for now.

  10. Owned by JetBlue or not, JetBlue could charge its passengers for using LiveTV but choose not to.

Continental now has LiveTV, a new and improved version, but paid nothing for it. They charge coach passengers $6 per segment (sound familiar) but this money goes directly to JetBlue/LiveTV, not Continental, as LiveTV are making the investment. Continental only has to pay the fuel costs to lug 1,000 pounds of equipment around. I don't know the terms of the Frontier/LiveTV deal.

  13. Where does Frontier Airlines fly? I've never heard of them but may if they fly near me (JFK). I see this thread is about live TV? and when I travel I have television shows or movies uploaded to my Ipod and watch them while in flight. I've never used the Live TV on my Jet Blue flights since I have what I want to watch in the palm of my hands. Not sure why they even have the option on many of my business routes, most have their laptops out.

  14. To whomever is writing this, thank you, and to those who keep commenting on understanding the blog and the vehicle for trolling you obviously haven't spent the last ten years working for two different major airlines, haven't taken a total of 4 pay-cuts in your short career, haven't signed your name to a load sheet that states you have loaded the plane correctly and can safely operate it, haven't sweated and stared after de-icing a plane in a heavy snowstorm to make sure those wheels lift off the ground, and haven't stood behind the counter on a canceled flight to get yelled at from people like you that just don't understand they should have left a day early if they wanted to make that job interview or cruise ship, and you sure as hell didn't do it for 28,000 a year. Pay attention, if i get this right I'm sure the point of this blog is to vent, about a lot of things, but mainly about how BB is taking a company with integrity and skilled workers on a slow decent into meritocracy and 1.4% increased quarterly profits at the expense of workers ( with family or without) and the expense of the actual customer. Most of us do this more than likely because we are good at it, addicted, and it gives us self worth, because honestly you can work the night food line at sheetz, or make a burrito at chipolte, or even stock fry's at walmart and make a better paycheck. Wrapping back to full circle here whoever is writing this is insightful, honest, and frankly saying what most of us are on our drives home in the car to ourselves, and if you don't understand that then go blog on airliners.net or check the nasdaq but either way alot of us enjoy the blog and hope you keep it going until the warn notice or 2 week notice ha thanks f9 ohio
